ZettelchenOpen app

Your shopping list by voice

Zettelchen should work with all common voice assistants. This is where things stand, honestly, with no promises we cannot keep.

Alexa: available, in beta

With the skill “Mein Zettelchen”: “Alexa, tell Mein Zettelchen to add milk.” Alexa asks “What else?” and sums everything up at the end. The skill currently speaks German.

Siri and Shortcuts: available, with an access code

In the Zettelchen settings you create an access code. With it you build a shortcut in the Shortcuts app that puts items on your list. Name it “Zettelchen” and say “Hey Siri, Zettelchen”; Siri asks what should go on the list. A native iPhone app with direct Siri support is planned.

Google Assistant and Gemini: not directly yet

Google ended list-app integration for the Assistant in June 2023, so there is no direct voice command. We are watching whether Gemini or the new Android app features open a path for list apps. Until then you can use Zettelchen with the access code through an Android app such as HTTP Shortcuts or Tasker, by tapping on your home screen or, depending on the device, by voice command to that app.

Samsung Bixby: we are checking

We are clarifying whether and how Samsung allows list apps. Until then the same applies as for Google: access code and routine.

Home Assistant, IFTTT and others

Anything that can send a web request works with the access code: one address, the code in a header or in the address, and the item as text. The reply contains a sentence to read aloud that the assistant can speak.

Access codes

You create them in the app under Settings, “Siri, Google and others”. Up to five per person, deletable at any time. We show the code only once; the database only holds a checksum. Access codes are part of Pro, which is free for everyone at the moment.
